Respected Head of the Health Physics and Radiation Therapy Technical Engineering
Asst. Prof. Dr. maher ali ibrahim
About the Department:
The Department of Health Physics and Radiotherapy Engineering Technology is considered one of the modern and distinguished departments, as it teaches the applications of modern physics in the medical and health field, especially diseases that require the use of rays and radioyherapy. The department is interested in improving and developing medical diagnosis and radiotherapy techniques by using advanced physical techniques. It also aims to provide integrated medical care for patients while receiving radiotherapy. The department accepts graduates of preparatory studies in its branches (scientific - biological - applied). The duration of the study is four years, and the language of study is English. The graduate is then awarded a bachelor's degree in health physics and radiotherapy engineering, equivalent to the degree granted in the specialty from technical colleges. The graduate is granted the identity of the Engineers Syndicate and authorized to practice the engineering profession in public and private sector departments.
The graduates of the department work as members of an integrated medical team where they cooperate with physicians in the field of radiotherapy and provide technical support in the use and maintenance of radiotherapy devices, monitoring the amounts of radiation used during treatment, and developing and implementing quality and health safety programs in this field.
Graduates of the department can work in the public and private sectors in hospitals and cancer treatment centers, medical research centers, companies manufacturing and developing radiotherapy and diagnostic devices, and academic institutions
The Department's Vision:
Qualifying distinguished and innovative competencies scientifically and with high skill and professional and ethical behavior who are able to keep pace with developments in the field of Health Physics and Radiation Therapy technical engineering and facing the engineering scientific challenges to provide applicable solutions and community service.
The Department's Mission:
Graduating distinguished technical engineers with qualified scientific and ethical levels and high efficiency in the fields of medical device engineering techniques by providing an advanced scientific environment and specialized faculty to be able to complete the process of higher education and professional learning and provide community service within multidisciplinary work times.
The Department's Objectives:
PEO1: competently apply engineering methods to solve professional problems associated with the design, development, manufacture, and maintenance of Health Physics and Radiation Therapy and related systems and understand the social, ethical, and environmental context of their work.
PEO2: communicate effectively with diverse and international communities, collaborate competently in cross-functional teams, and assume leadership roles while meeting the expectations of their employers.
PEO3: habitually engage in technical professional development.
